MIRIAM DI PENTA
Miriam Di Penta, Ph.D., is an Art Historian and Italian Baroque specialist. After graduating in Political Science and in Art History at Università La Sapienza, Rome, Dr. Di Penta obtained a Postgraduate Diploma at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London and a Ph.D. Amongst her many scientific publications is the first catalogue raisonné of Neapolitan painter Andrea De Leone (1610-1685) and a number of articles mostly focused on Italian Baroque connoisseurship, artists and patronage. Dr. Di Penta has taught Roman Baroque Art at Università La Sapienza, Rome (2006-2009), at the Courtauld Institute of Art Summer School (2013-2017), published extensively and has lectured at the most prestigious scientific institutions like the Fondazione Roberto Longhi in Florence, The American Academy in Rome, Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Palazzo dei Diamanti at Ferrara, Università di Torino and many other.
After being a consultant for the Old Master Paintings Department at Sotheby’s, Dr. Di Penta established her own Art Advisory and founded GOMP in 2014 (Giacometti Old Master Paintings) with Umberto Giacometti, exhibiting at TEFAF Maastricht, Biennale Internazionale dell’Antiquariato di Firenze, Munich Highlights, Flashback Turin and Paris Tableaux. In 2018 she founded and redesigned her own Gallery of Rome’s Via di Monserrato 34, a full expression of her personal style and taste, offering a wider selection of pantings (portraits, still lives and and landscapes), old master drawings and sculptures.
